THE utmost INTELLIGENT POODLE

 THE utmost INTELLIGENT POODLE

The Poodle is generally conceded to be the most wisely intelligent of all members of the canine race. There is a general belief that he is a  fop, whose time is largely enthralled in particular embellishment, and that he requires a great deal of individual attention in the matter of his bathroom. It may be true that to keep him in exhibition order and perfect cleanliness his owner has a need to devote further consideration to him than is necessary in the case of multitudinous types; but in other felicitations, he gives truly little trouble, and all who are attached to him are harmonious in their opinion that there is no canine so intensely interesting and responsive as a companion. His rates of mind and his acute powers of sense are indeed so great that there is a commodity nearly mortal in his attractiveness and his devotion. His aptitude in knowledge is noway denied, and multitudinous are stories told of his marvelous gift and versatility. Not simply as a showman's doggy has he distinguished himself. He is a commodity further than a sham of the cells, trained to walk the tightrope and stand on his head. He is complete at performing tricks, but it's his alertness of brain that places him piecemeal from other brutes. The gushing and long coat of this doggy has the peculiarity that if not kept constantly brushed out it twists up into little cords which increase in length as the new hair grows and clings about it. The unshed old hair and the new growth entwined together thus come distinct rope- suchlike cords. eventually, if these cords are not cut short, or accidentally torn off, they drag along the ground, and so help the poor beast from moving with any degree of comfort or freedom. Corded Poodles are truly grabby, and from the remarkable appearance of the coat, attract a great deal of public attention when displayed at shows; but they have lost popularity among utmost suckers, and have come numerous owing to the obvious fact that it's impossible to make faves of them or keep them in the house. The reason for this is that the coat must, from time to time, be waxed to keep the cords supple and help them from snapping, and, of course, as their coat can't be brushed, the only way of keeping the canine clean is to wash him, which with a barred Poodle is a lengthy and laborious process. Further, the coat takes hours to dry, and unless the lately washed canine is kept in a warm room he is truly liable to catch a cold surge. The result is, that the coats of corded Poodles are nearly always dirty, and kindly ripe. Poodle's General appearance--------------------------- Head Long, straight, and fine, the skull not broad, with a slight peak at the reverse.
